Kyocera Echo Getting Gingerbread on August 1st

We recently asked how would you change the Kyocera Echo and it appears that Sprint has the answer! Our Super Spies have produced yet again. Starting August 1st (next Monday), the Echo will get its dose of Gingerbread via update 2.002SP. Not only will this be a bump from Android 2.2 to 2.3, but the update will also include security fixes, SWYPE 3.0 and improved hardware performance. As with previous software updates, the Echo’s Gingerbread update is slated to roll out over a four-day period (10%, 25%, 25%, 1oo%). The internal memo doesn’t mention anything about a manual option, so we may have a bit of a waiting game for some. However if we get hold of an update file, we’ll do our best to share the wealth.
