Sprint Biz App Marketplace Makes It Easier for Businesses to Purchase and Manage Mobile Applications

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), July 12, 2011 – With the dramatic increase in both quantity and accessibility of mobile applications, businesses are struggling to find relevant and meaningful solutions. As an innovative and service-focused company, Sprint (NYSE: S) has partnered with leading solutions providers to deliver the Sprint Biz App Marketplace. Available athttp://marketplace.sprint.com, the self-service portal gives customers the ability to browse and purchase a variety of applications targeted specifically to address businesses’ mobile application needs.

Businesses can discover and acquire applications that Sprint has vetted as trusted and appropriate to a business customer, including those for location, navigation, fleet asset and time tracking, wireless payments, workflow and productivity. To quickly guide customers towards solutions that are relevant to them, users can find applications by industry or search by type, keyword or provider.

In addition to finding and acquiring applications, the Sprint Biz App Marketplace is also a management portal. Businesses can manage application licenses, when applicable, and indicate which devices/users should receive the application, including ongoing management of activations and deactivations of applications on users’ devices. All applications in the marketplace are Sprint-billed thus streamlining the billing process for businesses.

The Biz App Marketplace helps increase Sprint’s responsiveness to changes in the marketplace. For example, Sprint quickly worked with ZoomSafer, a leading provider of risk-management solutions, to deliver applications that help prevent accidents from distracted driving. FleetSafer Mobile is a patented software application for smartphones that detects when employees are driving and automatically enforces compliance with defined mobile phone use policies. FleetSafer Vision is a clientless, cloud-based analytics solution that measures employee use of any cell phones while driving, so employers can report and manage compliance with defined policies.

“The new Sprint Biz App Marketplace makes it very easy for companies to find and purchase innovative enterprise applications, such as FleetSafer Vision and FleetSafer Mobile to help reduce the risk and liability and advance their business,” said Matt Howard, co-founder and CEO – ZoomSafer.

Tom Roberts, vice president of business marketing – Sprint, added, “We’re pleased to offer a virtual marketplace to make it easy for business customers to purchase and manage applications for their employees. The Sprint Biz App Marketplace provides our business customers with a diverse suit of applications, enabling them to fully embrace mobility.”

Mobile business applications are available through Sprint Business, which is composed of sales, support, marketing and operations personnel solely dedicated to enterprise, small- and medium-sized business and public sector customers. Sprint delivers wireless, wireline and converged solutions for companies, drawing on its 3G and 4G wireless capabilities, push-to-talk network, Global IP network and growing portfolio of M2M partners and solutions.
