Kyocera Echo Gingerbread Update Rolling Out…Again

Posted In News - By Joe Fedewa On Wednesday, August 10th, 2011 2:29pm PDT With 2 Comments

Exactly one week ago we reported that the Gingerbread update to the Kyocera Echo was being pulled due to customers having issues after installing the update. Some were even reporting that the update was bricking their device. Today Sprint has announced that the Gingerbread update will begin rolling out again, and this time it won’t brick your phone.

Sprint will restart the Gingerbread update to Kyocera Echo users beginning today (August 10). In an effort to provide the best possible customer experience, Kyocera and Sprint have addressed a previous issue with the update raised last week. The Gingerbread update will provide Kyocera Echo users with performance enhancements including faster response, improved power management, enhancements for gaming, and more.

The update will bring you an updated version of Swype, Pinch-to-zoom ins Browser, Gallery, and Maps, and “Eco Mode” which aims to help users maintain better battery life with a flurry of settings. Expect the update to roll out slowly, just to make sure it doesn’t brick any phones again. Enjoy!
