Sprint Might be Trying to Buy Clearwire

Posted In News - By Mark Hearn On Saturday, August 20th, 2011 8:25am PDT With 0 Comments

Yesterday reports rolled in that our beloved carrier of choice had been mighty chatty with cable companies, which could possibly lead up to an investment deal resulting in the purchase of Clearwire. The parties rumored to be involved in this possible acquisition are: Comcast, Time Warner and Bright House, who along with Sprint have money invested in Clearwire. The proposed plan is said to cost around $600 million, which would focus on building a new LTE network. We find this extremely interesting, especially considering Sprint has already lined up a multi-billion dollar deal with LightSquared to build a brand new LTE network. Until we get an official announcement from any of the mentioned players, we’ll just have hang out and see what happens.
