Motorola PHOTON 4G Update Rolling Out Now

Heads up Motorola PHOTON 4G owners. We’ve received confirmation that update version 45.3.6.enUS is silently rolling out. This update is said to add: Google Talk video chat, Lapdock support, proximity sensor bug fix, enhancements of pictures taken in panorama mode, and the introduction of international roaming 3G UMTS hotspot functionality for a single Wi-Fi enabled device. In typical fashion the update will roll out bit by bit, but of course you can go the manual route via your phone’s settings. We’d also like to give a heads up that this will most likely revoke root access, so proceed with caution. Of course if you’ve already taken the plunge, please let us know how the update is treating you.
Thanks Tino

I got it yesterday…no issues with download or install. It added an application called Social Location – I have no idea how to use it, but it is there. I want to try out a Lapdock!
Update went great here! Love the Photon. Great support from Motorola (3 updates since release). I don’t see Social Location? Gtalk with video is awesome!
Upgraded. Last night with no issues so far
I swear apps are responding quicker or it could be my imagination
I tryed to do the update 3 different times and still get the same thing update failed. Im not sure if anyone else is having the same problem
update failed here too… tried multiple times via WiFi. Moto level 2 tech support was unhelpful, suggested a factory reset… idiot.
Hey I remember you…you won a phone that someone else tried to steal from you. Good to see you’re enjoying it.
Updated my rooted PHOTON via WiFi. Lost root (as expected) and was able to re-root via command line without a hiccup.
How long does thid update take?
My phone has been downloading via WiFi for about an hour, how much longer does this update take?
I haven’t play much with my updated Photon today (work has been crazy today) but I notice that the icon for Sprint Zone changed and that there’s a “Social Location” app. The gtalk voice chat works perfect between my Photon and my brother’s computer in Mexico. No use of video chat just yet.
Hello Mark, (off topic here) I never rooted an Android device before (just my Palm Pre and my “PalmPad”) and there’s so much info from so many different sources out there, could you send me an email with recommendations to root my Photon? Thanks.
I installed the update and now I can’t get a 3G signal. Anything that requires an internet connection is not working. Did anyone else have this problem, or does anyone have any suggestions to fix it?
Mine took just a few minutes, not sure what’s wrong with yours. Have you tried to reboot the phone and start again?
Software update failed…tried again & same issue
TEST
Ever sense update my phone dies within a hour and i dont even touch it looses full battery charge in one hour what kind of update is that
i’ve tried 7 or so times myself with failures, right out the box and turned it off more than once
It took 3hrs! everything is working fine though.
I had the same issue with my original photon purchased 3 weeks ago. Took it back to Best Buy, they exchanged out the dying battery one. As soon as I booted the “new” phone it wanted to download this new update. Now this battery dies quickly and it says that the update failed. Thinking I’m going to do a hard reset to see what happens.
