Samsung Reevaluating Ice Cream Sandwich for Galaxy S and Original Galaxy Tab
Just a few days ago, Samsung played the role of dream killer, announcing that both the Galaxy S (Epic 4G) and original Galaxy Tab would not be receiving an official update to Android 4.0. Naming TouchWiz as the culprit, this news definitely stung a bit for fans of both popular devices. But what a difference a few days must make, because it’s now being said that due to customer demand, Sammy is reviewing the possibility of getting Ice Cream Sandwich on these two legacy devices.
It’s still uncertain how Samsung will go about making this work, as they’ve stated that their in-house UI paired with ICS would be tight fight for both device’s limited memory capacity. There’s even chatter of them stripping down TouchWiz, or possibly doing away with it altogether in effort to make this update possible. Here’s to hoping they figure something out and figure it out soon, but considering how long we had to wait for the Epic 4G to receive an official Gingerbread update, we’d advise not to hold your breath.
