Sprint’s iPhone Sales Starting to Slow Down?

Word around the campfire has been that the iPhone 4S is burning up sales charts across the planet, but we’re wondering how Sprint’s numbers are looking? Sure, the Now Network had its best sales day to date on their first day carrying Apple products. However we’re now two months removed from the mystique of the iPhone and it appears that a possible shift may be taking place.
Our Super Spies have slid us some thought provoking intel that may shed some light on Sprint’s recent iPhone sales trends. The internal communication advises that as of December 6th, both the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S were made available to new Sprint Wireless Advantage Club subscribers.
A source of ours advised that when a device is in high demand, Sprint generally bars employees from adding it to their employee accounts until customer demand dies down. Making both iPhone models available to employees suggests that Sprint’s iPhone sales could possibly be slowing down. The communication does however advise that this offering is specifically available to new Wireless Advantage Club subscribers and that upgrading members have to wait until January 9th. Perhaps Sprint is trying to hold on for the holiday rush?

I work for Sprint and our store is selling 85-90% iPhones. No slow down, at least in our market.
2 months is usually the standard wait time for employees. The exception was the EVO, but that was because a lack of inventory.
Maybe there would be no slowdown if Apple would make enough iPhones. We are always running out of iPhones here at my store.
I know when we got my wife her iPhone, they were almost out. They had just sold the last white one, we got her a black one (as she was getting a case anyways).
Does anyone know about a Gizmodo article that praised Sprints iPhone speeds? Im in Atlanta and don’t know anyone who has Sprint but just have read ALOT of negative press about its network and tech blogs recommending people NOT get a Sprint iPhone. When I asked the salesperson, he pretended to never have heard about any iPhone data issues on Sprint (which was SO disingenuous) and then he said Gizmodo rated the Sprint iPhone the best. I couldn’t find such an article. Just wondering if people with iPhones are satisfied or not…If the speeds are presenting a problem…Or if anyone is in Atlanta and can comment on the network here. The first test phone wouldn’t work and then the salesman said it was on wifi. The second phone seemed ok in terms of loading pages but I guess I should’ve tried speediest -(or maybe you guys can tell me what else to try since Im new to smartphones)…
Do you know what markets are ‘strong’ markets in terms of data coverage/reception for Sprint. Im just very confused with all these tech articles saying Sprint’s network is awful, apps won’t load, don’t get a Sprint iPhone etc. I went into a store and the employee claimed ignorance when I asked about data speeds…he said Sprints iPhone is the same as the others in terms of data speeds…yet every single blog or tech site I read says the opposite – some go as far as to not recommend a sPrint iPhone.
The iPhone 4 (AT&T) model, when it hit the market, it sold on eBay for upwards of $1,000 (peaked around $1,500) for 3+ months before it finally slowed down. All three carrier models of the 4s haven’t had the same luck and are selling for what the 4 is on ebay.
So does this mean that Sprint is no longer delaying shipments by one or two weeks? On Apple’s site, it still says “ships in 1-2 weeks” but Sprint’s didn’t say anything, or at least, I didn’t see it.
There is a problem with the Sprint’s Data network speeds IN GENERAL, lately, regardless if you are using an iPhone. I have seen a few improvements recently and I know Sprint is working on capacity… they have to.
I think once sprint anounced they will no longer allow customers to add phones to there account killed sprint sales. Customers now have to come up with full price of phone out of pocket now. I thinks it is affecting all popular sprint devices not just iphone.
It’s been a while since I have been in Atlanta, but had good speeds there last year. That of course could have changed. You do have two weeks to take the phone back and get a refund if it you are not happy. Where I live Verizon and Sprint data speeds seem pretty equal, though Verizon has a little better coverage, at least until Network Vision is rolled out here.
*speeds pretty equal as long as we are talking 3G, Verizon has rolled out LTE here, but if we are talking iPhone that point is moot.
Zuh? What are you talking about?
There is no longer a delay for Sprint shipping on any of the iPhone models.
Obviously the timing of opening the iPhone up to its employees in January allows Sprint to get through the busiest sales period of the year (Nov/Dec) and ensure they have enough inventory for their customers first. With the quantity of phones that Apple can churn out in any given month, it’s surprising it has taken this long for Sprint to have the comfort level to open up to employees – this is a good sign for Sprint.
I doubt there are very many customers who care enough about this to stop buying phones.
