HTC One V Heading to Virgin Mobile

The last time we saw a high-end prepaid smartphone was when Motorola introduced the Triumph. But if a report from Pocket Now holds true, Motorola’s prepaid kingpin may be getting some competition this spring. Citing an unnamed source, they’re claiming that the recently announced HTC One V is on its way to Virgin Mobile and is expected to sale for under $200, we’re thinking they mean a $199 price tag before taxes, but we’ll have to wait and see. Sporting a 3.7-inch WVGA display, 512MB of RAM, Android 4.0 and Beats Audio, we’re hoping that this device breaks the trend of prepaid carriers being a feature phone dumping ground.

I kinda long for the day that Sprint stops differentiating Virgin Mobile from Sprint. They are the same company already. Im not sure which name in the USA is more valued, Sprint or Virgin. Either way, I wish that Sprint would sell Sprint devices ON Virgin. That is to say that one can buy a Sprint phone and use it on Virgin. Seeing as CDMA standard is a closed system and locked down for the most part, discounting the phones to use on Virgin makes sense. People like nicer phones, even if they arent paying more for services they dont need. Not everyone needs 450 Anytime, some need less. Some dont need night and weekends but want more data. Either Sprint needs to realize this and start moving Sprint phones to Virgin, or start offering plans on Sprint that are comparable to their prepaid plans, which ironically, give a better value than contract plans at this point.
Thanks for the story. I love reading about these things here at SprintFeed. That’s why I bookmark your site for reading several time per day!
I really like the form factor of this phone. It reminds me of the original design for the HTC Hero before Sprint, Verizon and other companies changed the design (and name).
This was actually confirmed by HTC at the launch of the One series during Mobile World Congress in February, the only difference is the pricing estimation.
