[Rumor] Google Nexus Tablet is a Go for as Low as $150

Posted In News - By Mark Hearn On Friday, March 16th, 2012 1:01pm PDT With 9 Comments

While everyone is busy going nuts celebrating the arrival of Apple’s third-generation iPad, their Silicon Valley rival Google may finally be gearing up to release their first Nexus-branded tablet. Android and Me is reporting that the search giant is partnering with ASUS to introduce their first homegrown tablet. Not much is being revealed here, but it’s being said that El Goog’s first-born tablet will feature an anti-Apple 7-inch display and a Kindle Fire competitive price point of around $150.

It’s being suggested that this tablet will be revealed in New Orleans at CTIA, but we’re thinking Google’s in-house I/O sounds more appropriate. If Google does decide to enter the tablet arena at such an entry-level price point, we’re sure hoping that the folks from Mountain View decide to show Sprint a little LTE love whenever their tablet rolls off of the assembly line.

Ice Cream Sandwich, Dual cameras, and a decent processor and form factor, it’ll be the official iPad Killer. With 1/4 the price, out of stock week 1 of sales.

  2. Derricob says:

If that’s true then I would definitely get one of those. Good price and it’ll have the most up-to-date Android software since it’s a Nexus. Those tablets would probably be flying off shelves

  3. Clayton says:

Dont bet on that. The Nexus S is still running Gingerbread…

  4. ArchangelRenzoku says:

7 inches? Oh come on guys, my third leg is bigger than that! Go 10″+ or get a cell phone!

  5. Derricob says:

Good point. Hopefully they’ll get better at that.

  6. raindog469 says:

    Size queen!

But practically speaking, even a 9″ tablet won’t fit in my jacket pocket, and if I have to carry a bag I’m just going to bring my 13″ laptop with me everywhere. My Galaxy Tab 7 Plus is a tight fit when it’s in the case, so I’m not sure even the new 7.7 would make it.

Ummmm…not everyone likes the iCrapPad!!! A lot of people (me included) don’t give a rat’s @s s about anything from Apple. So no, not everyone is going nuts about the iCrap, and a $150 7in Nexus tablet sounds good, in fact I might get one for my daughter, although she loves my “PalmPad” with webOS so I don’t know if she’ll like an Android!!!

I’m done with crapdroid. Wouldn’t get one at any price point. Why should I pay them to steal my information and track me? It’s like going out to the local street, pay a homeless guy $150 and tell him to watch me carefully so that when I’m not home, or when I’m sleeping, bring a whole lot of other homeless guys over and rob my house.

  9. Cocoman135 says:

yea but the phone is linked to sprint and sprint has to give the go ahead to allow the update to rollout

the tablet will most likeley have an attached carrier but the WiFi version wont and so the up dates will come from google or the manufacture directly
the nexus update comes from sprint and so it takes longer
