Total Equipment Protection Coming to iPhone?

Are you a new iPhone owner that opted to bypass AppleCare+, but are now wishing that you had some form of protective coverage on your iOS device? Well, it appears that you may be given a second chance sooner than later. We’ve received word that Sprint is in the process of bringing their Total Equipment Protection (TEP) coverage to the iPhone, which would finally provide customers with an alternative insurance program.
For those unfamiliar with TEP, it’s an insurance program with a monthly premium of $8 a month which covers your device in the event of it being lost, stolen, or damaged. There’s no word yet if the iPhone’s variant of TEP will carry a different premiumĀ or deductible from current offerings, but hopefully we’ll hear something official from Sprint and Asurion very soon. In the meantime you’ve still got thirty days from your original purchase date to add AppleCare+ to your iPhone.

It better carry a bigger deductible. Can anyone say massive insurance fraud?
Hmm… I thought part of the $8 TEP went towards service and repair also. Wonder if service and repair locations can order advanced exchanges once the TEP is available on iPhone. I know they probably won’t be able to open them up and try and fix things but if an exchange can be ordered without going to an apple store that would be cool.
Anything people saw on tep for the iPhone was accidental. Mailers will go out to anyone who recieved anything or saw anything about it. The rumors swinging around management and asurion reps is that tep will go open enrollment in June or July, and support the iPhone. 10 a month, 200 deductible. And right now s&r location m&PS state that we can order an iPhone replacement, applecare+ or not. Only adv. exch. stores must send you to apple. Oh, I’m a sprint tech..shhh
You don’t just have 30 days from the date of purchase to get AppleCare+, you have a year.
